The Different Types of 5G & How it Affects Coverage:

Low-Band Channels:
-Uses frequencies between 600 and 2,000 MHz.
-Greatest amount of coverage, good in urban and rural areas.
-Coverage measured in miles.
-Good building penetration.
-Mounted on larger towers and rooftops.
-Small to medium improvement of download speeds over 4G LTE.
Mid-Band Channels:
-Uses frequencies between 2 and 7 GHz.
-Medium coverage, good in urban and suburban areas.
-Coverage measured in thousands of feet.
-Adequate building penetration.
-Mounted on medium-sized towers and rooftops.
-Significant improvement of download speeds over 4G LTE.
-Mid-Band is regarded as the "Sweet Spot" for ideal 5G coverage & data speeds.
High-Band Channels:
-Uses frequencies between 7 and 50 GHz (a.k.a. millimeter or mmWave spectrum)
-Very limited coverage, only used in areas of high population concentration.
-Coverage measured in hundreds of feet.
-May be unavailable in buildings.
-Can be mounted on light poles and short structures.
-Dramatic improvement of download speeds over 4G LTE.
Multi-Band Channels:
-Uses various technologies to combine channels within the same or different bands.
-May use non-5G channels to yield 5G equivalent performance.
